Neil Gardiner Memorial RR.
Sunday, 07 Aug, 2011

Mark Baines takes 3rd in Neil Gardiner Memorial RR. Held on the rolling terrain between Cubblington, Stewkley and Whitchurch, the parcours look set for a tough 60mile race. The first half of the race proved to be fairly uneventful with Chris Parks doing a good job of keeping Mark out of trouble and well positioned in the bunch, sadly Chris Lyon punctured on the first lap and had to retire. In the second half of the race several tentative breaks went clear of the bunch, but none mangaged to break the grip of the bunch leaving the stage set for an uphill bunch gallop. Despite getting boxed in with 300m to go Mark managed to find some space and take 3rd place with a late surge.
