Team MK Time Trial

Spirit had two pairings entered into the 15mile Team MK 2-up time trial; Andy Barrett and Claire Doherty and Will Connolly and Aimee Gibson. Held in wet and windy conditions they finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. 

In the solo category Will Jenkins finished a credible 13th. 
MK Bowl - Week 2

In the 3rd/4th race strong turns by Ian and Richard helped Spirit to control the front of the bunch in the closing laps and deliver Chris to the line in first position. Unfortunately it turned out that one rider was already up the road and the bunch gallop was in fact for 2nd place. Overall it was a strong team performance that bodes well for the team getting further results in the coming weeks. 

In the E/1/2/3 race Mark made the initial break of 8 riders, but missed the split when this group splintered 3/4 of the way through the race. In the end he finished in 7th place in the second group on the road. Sam was also present in the race for Spirit and finished in 19th place in the main bunch. 
Thames Velo RR E/1/2/3

Mark and Will took part in the Thames Velo E/1/2/3 RR on Sunday. The blustery conditions encountered by the riders coupled with the high pace early in the race meant that a number a number small splits in the peloton began to form. However with little cohesion to work in the front group, everything came back together again each time. It wasn't until 2/3 of the race was completed that a small group of 3 got away. On the last lap a small chase group of around 10 riders moved clear, with Mark joining them over the top of the climb. Despite closing to within sight of the leading trio the junction was never made as riders started to protect their own interests and position themselves for the finish. In the end Mark finished 8th with Will finishing around 30th near the front of the main bunch. 
Jewson 2 Up Time Trial

Andy Barrett and Will Connolly rode in the LVRC Jewson 2 Up Time Trial at Naphill. The event was held in perfect weather conditions over a sporting 17.4 mile course. The duo put in a spirited to and finished first on Standard.
SPRING CHICKEN ROAD RACE

Six riders from Spirit got a ride in this year's Spring Chicken. After a fast start the bunch came to the 1st corner which was like an ice rink due to the damp conditions. Many riders came down. With a sizeable split in the bunch from the crash, Simon Howes and Chris Parks worked to get back into the front group.  Simon Moss spent most of the race on the front controlling the pace of what was a pot-holed course. There were many punctures and Greg Warby was out on the second lap. Towards the end of the race a group of 5 riders had managed to break away and had a small gap. Richard John from Spirit put in a massive dig to get across to what turned out to be the winning break.  Simon Howes and Chris Parks with Simon Moss  controlled the bunch's speed to make sure the break stayed away.   Rich got 5th at the finish and Spirit's Spencer Turnbull got to the front of the bunch sprint and managed a top 15 finish. A good day at the office for the lads.  
Hardrider's 25

Both competing in their first ever '25' Mark and Will finished 22nd (1:05:57) and 30th (1:09:38) respectively in the Northroad Hardriders 25.  The event was won by Wouter Sybrandy in a course record time of 56:36.
